Mossé Cyber Security Institute - 2022-11 to 2023-05 Progress Update

A quick update for the MCSI courses!

End of May 2023 Portfolio Summary

The numbers in parentheses are a comparison to the last update (2022-09/10).

Current Level: 9 (+1)

Total Points: 80.5 (+19.5)

Total Exercises: 81 (+20)

Certificates

I gained a new certificate for my progress in the MICS - Introduction to Cyber Security course. Only 6% left to complete the course!

The following 2 certificates are the ones that I am really proud of though! For the PHP web shell I used PHP and HTML, and for the program to capture clipboard data I used Go, which I had never even heard of before starting this exercise!

Here is a blurred out copy of the PHP Web Shell code (in order to let other students work through the exercise on their own without giving answers to all the requirements)! So many hours (or weeks, but who’s counting) went into building this program!! I still can’t believe I wrote all of that!

ISC² Certified in Cybersecurity Certification

I have also been studying for a certification from ISC². They have an initiative (One Million Certified in Cybersecurity – Free (ISC)2 Certification Exams (isc2.org)) where they are trying to encourage diversity, equity and inclusion in the workforce. They are giving away 1 million course enrollments plus exams to people who are part of populations underrepresented in cybersecurity.

To learn more about the certification itself, you can read more at Certified in Cybersecurity Certification | (ISC)² (isc2.org).

I received 76% on the pre-assessment before starting the course (70% is a passing grade); however, several people informed me that the exam is much harder than the free course.
